DREAMS DO COME TRUE
"In August 2006, I was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. After that I started
receiving blood and platelet transfusions every week at Lee Memorial
hospital in Ft. Myers to stay alive. Quite literally, the people who
donated blood saved my life. I was kept alive through these transfusions
for two years until I could receive my stem cell transplant at Moffitt
Cancer Center in June 2009. I spent three and a half months at the Hope
Lodge on the campus in Tampa after my stem cell transplant and received
more blood and platelets there. Now, whenever I see a bloodmobile I
stop and thank the donors so they can see the face of someone whose life
was saved by them." - Tracy Smith
Tracy Smith and her daughter Chelsea during a trip to Busch Gardens. "It is the first time in over five years I did not have to use a wheelchair to get around in a place like this."

One blood donation can help save the lives of up to three patients. It is estimated that nine out of ten
people who live to age 70 will require a blood transfusion. Visit our Patient Testimonials
page to see how your donation can make a difference and to share your own lifesaving story.
